The next morning, Dr. Barlow and Dr. Bledsoe go to the ruins, where they find a row of fountains, a shallow pool, and a huge pillar. They find that the water is clean, but that someone has been playing in it, and that it's not safe to drink. They also find that there are classes in the school, including human history, counting, and reading and writing. They decide to take a trip to the surrounding ruins to find the good ones. They don't have enough resources to do so, so they'll have to go farther to find them. They're not sure if they've found the holy maiden, but she's brown hair, gray eyes, and yellow with an umbrella. They talk about how they're going to find her, but they'd better find her before they do. The holy maiden doesn't recognize him, but he does recognize her, and they decide to talk after they find her. He's different than the scientists he's heard about, he says, because before the scientists they heard about "dling stupid human" . The man who came first wasn't a bad guy, he just bit the man's hand, and the man would have died if he hadn't been saved. They strip the man of his clothes, and then they go down to find him.
