In this chapter, Volger reflects on the 48 years that have passed since he left the original hive. He is grateful to have had the opportunity to return to the same place where he fought the noble seven. He recounts how the first superintendent of unified humanity led to the rise of discord and distrust, leading to warfare. When people witnessed the horrors of war, they finally sought peace again. Volger recounts how violence drove humanity to the edge of extinction, and how, after driving the Beta out of Mars, the g-elements drove us to extinction. But five years ago, a group of leaders from across the globe came together to declare that they would accept each other's weaknesses, and walked a path of peace and prosperity. Even though there are still those who oppose this, they must push forward because that is what they have made of their own will.
