About This Chapter
The second squadron in Mano Bay is moving southeast to slow down the enemy advance. The whole unit is still intact, and the only thing that's missing is a propulsion drop. They're all ready to leave, but the captain says they'll have to wait until they hear the rumble of the ship's engines. The captain says he can't wait to get out of there, but he's got to get the ship out of the bay ASAP. He tells the captain to hurry up and get his ships out. He says he'll do his best to find someone to put out the engines, but it's going to be a sad day for the battleships, since they're so important to the nation. He asks the captain if he can just go back to the control room. He wants to know if the squadron has left the bay, and if kashiwagi is still alive. He's not dead, he says, and he doesn't want to tell the captain about it. He also wants to ask the captain what happened to the beta. The beta is underground, heading south to get to the mainland. He thinks that the answer to the question is yes, and that the beta is going to save even more lives by getting out of this mess. He promises to carry out his mission, even at the cost of his own life.
