The chapter opens with a discussion between Mishima and Shmoop. Mishima says that she has had enough of drinking and is ready to get back to work. She says that the captain and sergeant have set everything up perfectly for her, so she's going to take over as the commander of the gun interceptor. She's excited about the music that was played by Touko's parents, and she thinks that they're both famous musicians. She also talks about how Touko can hack into all of the world's computers and take over all of mankind's thoughts. She can do this through thought control, which is why she gave him Touko. She tells Mishima that she'll never lose her faith in mankind, because long as he's around, she will always be able to hack into people's minds. She compares Touko to a "me peony" and says that they managed to get to the target five times in the simulator. They're going to have two weeks to prepare for the next operation, and Mishima thinks that he'll have to take command himself. He says that he always knew he'd become a flight commander one day, and that he can't wait to do it. He's happy to see that the party is underway.
