The scene opens with a flashback to Mina's death, in which Mina explains that she is not responsible for the crime. She blames herself for the events of the previous day, when she saw another man having an affair with another woman. The flashback also shows that Mina has been in contact with the other man for three years, during which time she has created a "conduit" between her past and present. She also blames Mina for the death of Marimo, who she believes has died in order to avenge her own death. Mina tells the man that he is the only one who knows what happened to Marimo in the previous world, and that he should be the one to mourn Marimo's loss. The man, however, does not believe her, and Mina tells him that he has been a victim too. She asks him to come back and tell her what is going on, and he agrees to do so. He tells her that he knows it is his fault, but that he cannot undo the wrong he has done. He asks Mina to prepare himself for the day when he will be alone with Mina.
