In this chapter, we learn that Laplace's "demon" no longer exists, and that no one knows what the future holds. In other words, Laplace is no longer a demon. He's a man, and he can do whatever he wants with his own two hands. He can jump worlds if he ever loses his "feeling of attachment" . Laplace tells us that he's not worried about the "god or the devil" messing with him. He just wants to do what's best for the planet and its inhabitants. He wants to protect them all. He doesn't want to show off his skills, though, because that would be a waste of time and energy. He also wants to be able to shoot at anything, even if it's just a random person. He says that he was in a rush the last time he shot at Laplace, so he wants to try and shoot at the same person again. He thinks that if he does the same thing, it'll help break open the ice between him and Laplace. He asks if he really hurt Laplace by shooting at him, since he was so creeped out by the thought of being attacked by a woman. He wonders if he'll have to do something big to break the ice.
