Hirohito and the rest of the men are gathered in the theater to celebrate the end of the war. The captain tells them that he has received a message from the family saying that they wish him well and that they hope he will be able to take care of them in the future. He says that he will not be a soldier, but a member of the armed forces. The lieutenant says that the experiments have been successful enough to retrieve the bodies of the dead, and they have proven that the men must have longed for the day to come.
