The next morning, Hirokazu finds himself in the control room of the escape shuttle. He's worried about what's going to happen to him now that he's found out about the events of the previous time line. He tells himself that he needs to know everything about what happened in the past, because he loves sumika, and she's been bringing people back from the brink of disaster. He wants to know what happened to the people he'd hurt, and he wants to be able to alter the events in the future to make them right. He says that the reason he kept going back and forth in time was because he had a vision that he was going to die with meiya, and it was that vision that made him go back in time. That's why he keeps going back, he says, because it's the brain in the time machine that makes it happen. He also says that it was the same brain that kept meiya alive for so long that she never stopped yearning to be with him, even after she lost her senses. And then, in 1999, when the two hydrogen bombs were dropped, the tidal forces of the universe all converged on that day, and that's when all those feelings came together again. He asks if he can go back to the peaceful world of the past and live out his life in happiness. He thanks the rabbit for giving him the strength to go back, and says that because she got to speak with him one last time, he'll be the hero of the story.
