Alex asks the princess if she regrets allying with him. He tells her that she just needs to trust him. Five years ago, he launched a rebellion against Macken, but now he doesn't think he can trust Macken again. He also tells the princess that the baby was born out of wedlock, but that the queen took the poisonous paint from it. Alex is sorry, but he blames himself for not telling the truth to the Duke and Darcy. He promises to do his best to protect the princess.
