Sophia is grateful to Prince Cecili for his kind words. She notices that the hair band that he gave her is ugly, and she plans to use some of it to pay him back for it. She also notices that some of the people who have come back from the war have been assigned to work in different estates the next day. She is afraid that they will be beaten, and so she tries to get out of the room, but he slaps her hand. He says that he is going to beat her, and that she should have mercy on him, because he is so young. She says that she is afraid because she is a vesperang citizen and that the war has been going on for a long time. She tells him that she and her father are to blame for the war, because they are the ones who have caused it. He asks her if she is willing to help him deal with the situation. She replies that she will not help him, but that she still wants to be a good princess, and protect her people. He tells her that she has misunderstood him, and asks if she would reconsider having him as her ally.
