This chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which King Lear's servant, Agamemnon, is wounded in the fire. He is taken to the hospital, where he is treated for a fever. The flashback shows that Aeneas's wound has healed, and he is now able to leave the hospital and return to his home. He tells his servant that he will be returning to the palace the next day.
