About This Chapter
The narrator introduces us to Soto and his friend, the "San" from Nantara village. They've just returned from a trip to Nantara, where they've been introduced to a new kind of banana that tastes just like regular bananas. Soto's excited, and the two of them try the new bananas too. The narrator tells Soto that they're going to have to tell the banana company in Nantara how they feel about the new banana, because it's a big deal for the banana business in the U.S. The two girls decide to head back to the banana factory, but they can't find the train station to get there. So they decide to take a ride on the local bike, which is a good idea, since it'll give them a chance to talk to the people in the village. But they'll have to wait for the train to come back, because the train is going to take them over 100 miles. Soo and Soto run off to find a snack to eat and a drink to drink. They run out of money on the bananas, and they decide that running will make them feel better. The girls decide that they should thank Soto for giving them such a great deal of money, and so they head back home.
