The chapter ends with Alek's reaction to the end of the chapter. He's not happy with his grades, but he's also not happy that Alek is leaving him. He tells Alek to go home, but Alek says he doesn't have the energy to deal with him. Alek tells him to get out of the house, because mommy's there to take care of the baby. He says he'll cuddle the baby until he feels better, and that's it. The baby is all, "I'm a baby now" . Uh-oh. What's wrong with you? Well, it's just normal for a baby like you to have a baby, Alek says, and it will make the baby feel better. Oh, poor baby. You don't even have the strength to hold your own against mommy, he says. He wants to know why she's doing this to the baby, and she says she wants to remember how much she loves her baby. She says she wishes she were dead so she could be with her baby all the time.
