In this chapter, we are introduced to a young man who has just returned from a trip to the Galapagos Islands with his teacher. The young man tells us that he is very happy to be back in the Galapagos, and that his teacher has been kind to him. He asks the young man if he would like to try some of the wine that the teacher has brought with him, and the boy says yes. He also tells the boy that he has lost his license to practice medicine in the state of Hawaii because of the incident with the doctor. The boy says that he stopped the doctor on his way back from the Galapagos because he did not want to kiss him again, but he does not know what the doctor is talking about.
