About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator reflects on his love life. He feels that he is the type of person who will give his all to someone he likes, regardless of whether that person has a girlfriend. In high school, he heard that some of his friends liked boys, but he doesn't like anyone he likes. He also hears that hotaru likes amemiya, and that counts as her first love, and her failure at love. In fact, hotaru's first love was for a girl he didn't know, and his first failure was for his first love. The narrator feels that his love for hotaru is the result of his failure to love anyone else. He tells Yuuko that he has come to the conclusion that she is his ideal woman. He asks her what she thinks of him, and she replies that she feels exactly like what he would think. He then asks her why she hasn't organized a party to celebrate the recovery of makoto. She tells him that she has something to think about tonight, and he tells her that he's going to do something for the sake of his love strategy. He says that he used to do this for work before, but now he has to do it for love, so that he won't fall apart. Yuuko says that she heard that she had to know someone to get an invitation to a party, and so she rented a place, but she can't get a reservation. She also tells him about her husband, who got married at the age of twenty and had five children. She says that his wife likes him, but that he got really depressed after the summer break. She asks him to honk a little bit, and tells him to go to his next place. He honks a bit more, and says he was sure that she hated him. He apologizes for what he did, saying that he wrongly assumed that her love was one-sided. He admits that he feels sorry for his actions, and asks her to give him her blessings.
