The chapter opens with a rumble. It's the beginning of the ceremony for the ceremony. Everyone is nervous about the ceremony, but they all agree that it's going to go off without a hitch. The narrator tells us that the ceremony is going to take place on a rainy day, which means that everyone will be around the guy who's so awesome. He also says that he'll be able to stand in for the fifth witch, since everyone is standing around waiting for the ceremony to begin. Everyone's nervous, but the narrator reassures them that it won't be a big deal. He tells them to hurry up and start the ceremony. He's half-awake, but he's confident that they'll all make it through the ceremony safely. He asks one of the boys to kiss him, and the boy does so. He then asks the other boys if they're okay, and they all say that they are. He goes on to tell them that he was suspended twice in the first year, and once in the second year. The other boys are all excited to see him back, because they've been waiting for him all this time. He says that the whole school has been talking about the fight, and that they couldn't stand by him, because he was twice suspended. The boys all want to welcome him back.
