The chapter opens in the student council office, where the vice-captain of the school's women's basketball team has started to complain about the lack of respect shown to her by the other members of the team. She wants to remove him from his position as the captain of the girls' basketball team. The captain tells her that she should have used her power as a member of the council to silence her, but she says that no one on her team was under her power, and that she is not using her power on any of her other team mates. She adds that there could be another clue in the reference room at the school, but that the only hope lies in the fact that there might not be a choice but to leave the school. She asks the captain if he would like to see three of her students, but the captain replies that he would rather see them all together. He then says that they are counting on him to be absent the next day, so he must go to the school clubhouse.
