About This Chapter
The scene opens on the day of a cultural festival in Yokohama. A shop is bustling with activity as people line up to buy yakisu bread, which is a type of bread that is traditionally made in the U.S. The shop owner tells his employees that the bread is made from "special ingredients" and that he is the one who is to blame for the shop's financial problems. He tells them that they are in trouble because they insisted on making the bread using "no reason" , but that it is too bad that they will lose money if they do not sell all of the bread. He suggests that they tie the bread into some kind of incentive, such as a house of divination, so that people who buy the bread will be able to predict their future. He then tells the shop owner that he wants to know if he is able to erase his "witch power" without getting ex-pelled. He says that he feels helpless when bad things happen to him, and that is why he is sick of his power.
