The chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the novel. It is the morning of the first day of school, and Hiroshi has been acting weird. He has been going out with Mina, and Mina has been doing the same. She tells him that she has been living her "wonderful rose colored life" and has been working outside of school with Hiroshi. She says that she wants to help him with his writing, and that she is happy that he is happy with her. She asks him to help her find a way to spend time alone with her friend, and he agrees. He tells her that he has been looking for a light novel, and she suggests that they go to a different book store to find it. He says that he will reserve the book first, and then he will buy it together. He then asks her to be the next vice president of the student council. She replies that it is not something she should decide by herself as president, but that she will have to work after school.
