The next morning, the group gathers for their lesson. Everyone is nervous about the group's lack of sleep, but the girls are eager to get things started. They ask the private tutor uesugi if he's ready to tutor them, and he says he is. He's going to watch them, too, because he hears that one of the girls broke a bone during the lesson, so they'll be unable to participate. Unsure of what to do, the girls decide to sit around and wait for the lesson to begin. The private tutor tells the girls that he'll finish the lesson quickly, since he doesn't want the girls to be distracted by his presence. He tells them that they're sisters, and that they should get along. He also tells them about the girl's lateness, and they agree that it's probably because she's trying to do too much. He says that he won't ever see her eye to eye with him, since she seems to have an "especially ill will" toward him. The girls ask him to join their basketball team, but he refuses, saying he wants to go home and get his wallet and leave.
