The chapter opens with a conversation between Ruchiko and Sakurako, two members of the university's psychology department. The two girls are discussing a prize they have won for the best stuffed animal in a competition. The prize is an enormous stuffed animal, which Ruriko has brought to her from home. She is very jealous of the prize, which she has stolen from the other students. She also tells Ruchiako that she is on the "shy side" and that she has not made many friends. She tells him that she would like to visit him, but that she does not have the time to do so. She says that she will send her a picture of the meat she ate, and she hopes that Ruriako will fall in love with her soon. They talk about the book Le Petit Prince, which they have both read. Ruchio says that he has read the Japanese version of the book, but he has not yet read the English one. He says that it is his dream to go to France, where the author lives. He tells her that every time he comes over, she says nonsense things like, "Go out with me, but I'm out crush. Back in high school, no one cared for this kind of thing," he says, and they hardly talked about it. He adds that he is glad that there are so many girls in the club.
