About This Chapter
It's been a while since we've heard from the narrator, but he's feeling a little gloomy. He's just realized that his friend, Shu-ko, has friends who aren't as close to him as he is. He wonders if this is jealousy, and he wonders if it's a sign of weakness. He says that as long as people know that he is the one who spends the most time with them, he'll be fine. He asks if she's looking at him, and she says no. She doesn't seem to care about the curry, which is super spicy. The narrator is glad she had fun eating with her classmates, because it was the first time he'd ever eaten with his friends. He tries to get her to stop patting him on the back, but she won't let him. He can't find the flash light, so he has to rub his face with a wet cloth to find out what's going on. He tells her that he ate a chocolate late, and now he smells like a dog. She says she smells like louis, and that's good, because she just made all of her students enemies in Japan. She tells him that she'd like to tell him by his spunkiness. She also tells him about how they had a bath, and then they went off to the ball. They didn't have a mirror, so they just laid back and had tea by themselves. They're not her grandma, she says. She's crazy. The house made of sweets was destroyed by the wolf, so she'll stay there forever. The mermaid took a potion that made her human, so that she could spend the day at the castle with the princess.
