It's time to break the mochi, the dried fruit eaten by Toshiro in the Shrine of the Virgin Mary. The narrator tells us that people eat the mochi to serve the Toshigami god in their homes. The tangerine is supposed to represent the flourishing generations, but the tangerine isn't supposed to be bitter orange, but a bitter orange.
