In this chapter, we learn that the research team at the National Institutes of Health has been working on a new drug to treat certain kinds of cancers, but that they've run out of money. They're not going to continue this kind of research, they say, because they don't have the money to do it anymore. They have to go back to the lab to figure out how to make the new drug work. We learn that Tanaka and Natsuo left the research lab when they saw what was going on with Satoshi and the others, and that the two have been working together ever since. We also learn that there's been a lot of talk about the "deso-human" stuff, which is basically the idea that the human body is a kind of machine that can do whatever it wants to it. This is a big deal, because it's the first time that we've heard about the idea of a human body being able to do anything. It's kind of like the Terminator or the Terminator II, where you have a bunch of machines that do whatever they want to do, but they can't do anything that's more important than what's important to them. So, basically, the Terminator is a machine that does what it says on the tin can, while the other machines do what they say on tin cans. The next time we hear about the Terminator, we're going to hear about how he's going to get rid of all these machines.
