About This Chapter
The narrator begins this chapter by saying that all he's trying to do is become a "fine human being" . He says that he needs to keep his friends, too, and that he doesn't care if they're demi-humans or not. He's just trying to become a good human being. The narrator says that if he were to die, he'd want to know who he is so that he can make a difference in the world. He compares himself to the soldier of god, who didn't die in battle or in accidents or suicides, but simply died in the course of his life. He also says that the people who die in this way don't need to die at all. They just need to think about it. He tells the narrator to "look at the light damned it" , and to "click be my witness !" . Then he asks the narrator if he thinks that the demi humans are really alive, and the narrator says, "Ha ha, research reward fame?" . And then the narrator asks if he can call home, and he says he'll be there. He then asks if the narrator's cell phone number is available, and she says it isn't, but that she'll get back to him when she's done talking to him.
