About This Chapter
In this short scene, the narrator tells us that he's not in love with anyone. He's just not into the idea of taking a day off from work to go on a date with a girl he doesn't actually love. The narrator is worried about the safety of his employees, since they're supposed to be away from their jobs for a few days. He wonders how many of them would be willing to risk their lives for a day's vacation. He also wonders if they'd even be able to sneak into the office under the watch. When the narrator finally gets to the office, he finds that the gift bag has already been delivered to him. He tells his wife to hurry up and get the heck out of the office because the ghost of the ministry is hovering over it. The ghost is there to make sure that the employees don't get too excited about their day off. He says that he used to be a big fan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but now that he works at the Ministry, he can't stand it any longer. He asks his wife if she'd like to go to the
