In this chapter, we learn that the "demigos" are humans, and that they live in the same world as animals. They're called demi humans because they don't die, and they're not afraid of death. In fact, the narrator says, they might die if they continue to exist. The narrator says that he's not sure if he'll ever die, but he doesn't want to be the one who dies. He wants to meet the demi humans, because that's the only place he'd like to be. The demi humans tell him that they believe that the police have changed their minds about suppressing black ghosts in Japan. The first demi human in Japan tells the narrator that he just got the cell ready to accept him. He's sorry that he took his sister to find her. The second demi human says that they must not assume that humanity is their enemy. He says that if the police ever treat him wrong, they'll swear to rescue him in the best way they can. He also says that there's no reason for him to think that there are "terrorists" among them, because they'd be too scared to rebel against them. He adds that if they did, they wouldn't be able to live quietly, since they would have no choice. He asks what happened to the black ghost, and the narrator answers that it's a tranquil, or servant, who took the gun from the priest's cell. He then asks what's going on with the priest and the tranquil. The tranquil says that the priest is dead, but that they should go get coffee.
