About This Chapter
The next morning, Toza and the other demi-humans are on their way back to the city, and Toza wonders how they came to be in the city at all. He tells them that he's not really immortal, and that they're probably going to have to kill him to see if he'll be able to live forever. Toza tells him that he and his companions have gone a long way, and they've crossed into the neighboring prefecture of Hokkaido. They're going to find a place to "catch our breath" before they head back to town. He's feeling better, he says, and he thinks maybe society has gone too crazy, and maybe he could manage to escape. He also tells Toza that there's been a big uproar in the town about a third demi, and the police are trying to find him. He doesn't want to meet him, because he thinks the voice of the third demi is too much like that of a snake. He says he'd rather not use the voice, because it's too far away from a frog. He asks Toza if he can talk to the family before he leaves, but Toza says that he can't, because the family has already spoken to him. They don't have anything to say to him, he tells them. He wonders why he was the only one who was able to move after school, and wonders if the voice has something to do with him being immortal.
