About This Chapter
The chapter opens with Hirohito and Enobaruchi on their way to the roof of the castle. They are overcome with emotion as they realize that they have survived the battle and that they will be able to return to their former selves once they have repaired the hole in the castle wall. They realize that the hole was made by cutting off their arms, and they wonder how they were able to do this. Enobarachi explains that in order to erase an obstacle that is in the way, the body needs to be created with an unknown substance. He explains that the same thing happens in the body when it is shot, and that it is not being erased, but rather the bullet inside the body is gone. The two men jump up to the top of the roof, but they find that there is no way to get to the other side of the wall, where they have been able to repair the hole. They decide to go back to their old selves, and Enogarachi tells them that he has high hopes for them.
