The chapter opens with a flashback to the night before the festival, when Hiroyuki discovers that someone has written a note warning him to watch out for Akira Kanzazi. Hiroyuki realizes that he has never taken the note out of his room, and that no one else has ever come to his house without him. The flashback continues with Hiroyuki's explanation of why he went out with Akira. Akira came to him and tried to confess, but Hiroyuki stopped him and told him that he wouldn't turn himself in if it would keep Akira from confessing. He went to shin and warned him about Akira, but he was too scared to do anything about it.
