About This Chapter
The scene opens with a young scholar hurrying up to a nearby ancient casino to gamble. The young man is shocked to find that the seal on the door is not a seal from an ordinary casino, but from an ancient one. He wonders how he can get into the ancient one when he is not allowed to gamble at random. The scholar explains that if he wants to enter the ancient casino, he has to mortgage his property. If he wins, he can take away the property that he has mortgaged. He asks the young man if he would like to try his hand at this newfangled game. The man says that he would rather have a chance at winning than gamble. He then asks the scholar if he could have a try at the ancient game with a fallen sword. The student says that the sword is the most important thing in his life, and he must love it so much that he will be blind if he does not have it with him
