When he gets into the elevator, he feels like someone is standing behind him, but he doesn't know what's going on. He presses the elevator button several times to cancel the feeling, but no one knows what it is, so he can't figure out what it's all about. He feels like he sees a tall, thin man behind him. The elevator door opens slowly, and he realizes that the sound of the door isn't coming from the ninth floor. He wonders if there's something out in the hallway, or if he just saw an old man there. The next morning, he's too nervous to go to work, and so he goes back to his apartment.
