One night, laojiu asks the young master to accompany him outside. The young master tells him that catching bugs is the "ultimate skill" he is trying to teach him, but catching flies is not one of those skills. The landlord's servant blocks their way inside, and they are forced to confront the old man. The old man curses his son, but the landlord does not speak to him for a long while, so the girl turns her face on him and asks him to save her son. She tells the landlord that the landlord sent two servants inside to lead them inside, but she can tell that he does not believe him. She says that he is ruining the young girl's freedom, and that she does not want to come back if she dares to do so. She also says that she is twelve years old and cannot understand the lesson he is teaching her.
