Once he's drunk, Laojiu staggers back to the village. The hobo follows him. He tries to talk to Laojiu several times, but he just splits the chicken pieces into small pieces. He's heartbroken to see Laojiu waste them all. Laojiu takes the hobo into a bush behind a tree at the village's entrance. The two hide behind the tree, and Laojiu suddenly touches hobo's face. He explains that the two of them have been fighting for days, and the villagers have known about it. He feels that he is a ghost, and he begs the villagers to give him their lives. When they see the old man on the ground, they're even more excited. The old man is scared that he forgot to come here, and laojiu pounces on him, but Laojiu is too scared to do anything. He just turns around and walks away.
