In this chapter, we learn that the ghost of annabelle will take away the soul of a family member every time she enters the house. We learn that this is the case with a doll named tietou, who was a friend of bloom's when she was a child. When she was young, she would accompany her on her explorations of physics, drawing, writing and listening to her talk about physics. She became dirty, and bloom promises to clean her up and make her pretty again. She also promises to paint a face for her, and tells her that she will bring her back home.
