The scene opens with a conversation between Brooke and Brooke's mother. Brooke is worried about her son, A'ren, who has caught a cold and is being cared for by his aunt, who is leaving to buy groceries. Brooke tells Brooke that she has come to visit her son and that another student has also come to say that she is representing the class of the next-door neighbor. Brooke, however, does not believe that Brooke and the other student are connected to the incident, and she is shocked that her son would come so far from home
