Back at the house, we find out that Shakepeare has taken leave from school to care for his sick friend. He's not the only one there, of course, and he's the one who brought the lecture notes to the house. The boy is excited to meet his new friends. He explains that he was originally going to fight a giant bear gang and decide who would be the king of the Western District, but he also wanted to visit his father. He tells us that the teacher had arranged for a boy to deliver the notes, but now that the boy is sick, he has to deliver them himself. He says that he'll hand the notes over to his father when they get back, but that he doesn't want to be the bearer of bad news. He thinks that the two bodyguards are familiar with him, and that they're trying to kill him. The two men tell him to turn around and they'll take him to the doctor. He remembers that the men put a sack on his head, and now he remembers that they are the ones who killed him. He asks the two men what they've done, and they tell him that they only have one goal in life: to love him.
