In order to "become independent," Huck is going on a "solemn trip" to visit his biological father. He asks his uncle if he has ever lost a "dear little guy" before, and the uncle replies that he has. Huck asks if his uncle has ever worn "his dad" on the road, and his uncle says that he does, and Huck asks him to try his dried chili peppers, which are "very refreshing." The uncle tells Huck that he wants to take Huck on a street performance, and when Huck asks about his mother's photo, the uncle tells him that she has passed away. When Huck asks why his uncle is so sad, he is told that his father is living a difficult life, and that his mother has just died. Huck is upset that he is not married, and he asks to see his father before he goes home.
