New Year's Day, the first day of the new school year, is here. Doggo asks the class to gather in the morning to watch the sunrise. The narrator is excited to be a part of such an event, but he worries that there are only four of them and that bettie will not be able to join them. He also worries that a'ren will be watching the sunrise, so he's going to "create an accidental encounter with him" . He's also worried that the weather will be bad, so they'll have to eat some hot food before climbing to the top of the mountain. They're both worried about the weather, but they're happy that they've been able to hang out together.
