The story begins when the Queen is sitting by her window. She wishes that her child had lips as red and blood as skin as white and hair as ebony on this window. It is a golden retriever. The child is nothing like the Queen had hoped for, but she loves to read. After the Queen passes away, the child is taken into the care of an evil stepmother. Everyone calls her the hard working princess. The stepmother has an "all-knowing" magic mirror. The Queen is pleased that her daughter will always be the smartest of all the children. The teacher tells her to stop telling lies. The huntsman tells the huntsman to kill the princess. Three days later, the princess runs into 50 dwarfs. The princess and the dwarfs get along well. Once the stepmother learns that the princess still lives, she brings a poisoned apple to the forest. She leaves the dwarves and goes back to the castle.
