Worried about his feelings for yue, dai tells her to forget him. He tells her that he's only been away for three years, but he has lost his love for her. Worried, yue tells him that she'll let him know what he said. They decide to visit the magicians' guild the next day, and dai feels as though the "most crucial thing" has been permanently lost. He's still in love with yue but he can't admit it because he feels inferior. Believing that bing has died for him, he tries to convince himself that he doesn't have to beg for love anymore.
