This chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the novel, when the young protagonist is still a child, and his father is still an adult. The young protagonist's mother is also present, and she tells him that his father has been cruel to her, and that his mother does not help him either. He tells her that he is out to play and that he hates his father for being so cruel to him. He also tells his father that he has found a magic weapon that can detect the energy waves of a woman, and he explains that he will use this weapon to track down the woman and bring her back to him
