This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between Desdemona and her brother , who is trying to win the heart of the elf, Elmire. Elmire tells her brother that the elves have been nothing but good to him, and that she will not let him succeed in his quest to win her heart. She tells him to be careful, because the elves are too powerful for him. He tries to engage her head, but she is too strong for him to do so. He throws a sky-wind sword at the ground, but it falls to the ground. He tells himself that he has to defend the clan against the capture of the elves.
