About This Chapter
In this chapter, p. p. tells the story of how the whole thing happened. He tells the patriarch to be judicious in judging everything. He says that the body of Yun'er shows that the murderer is not the murderer. The patriarch says that he cannot judge everything based on the body, but he can conclude that the murderers are not the murderers. He reminds the patriarch that when he was a kid, he told him that the young man would have a bad luck at age 26, but that it would not kill him. After the misfortune, he would be reborn and he would meet someone important in his life who would be by his side to help him deal with his sorrow. He asks the patriarch not to reveal the identity of the person who has appeared among the strangers, but it is God's providence, and the patriarch agrees to protect the strangers. He then tells the young people to stay with him for a while, and he tells them that he has something to tell them privately. He feels that the old man is more "unexplainable" than his father and grandfather. The old man tells them to follow him to a place full of "unknown magic runes." The young people are amazed at the level of magic in this place.
