In this chapter, Cai Ming-liang reveals his plan to sacrifice himself to the schoolmaster. He says that he had planned to use his body as a cauldron, but that he is unable to do so because he has been so kind to him. He tells Cai that he will give him an extra coin for cleaning up his carriage. He also says that his life has been full of laughter as a result of his friendship with Cai Mingliang. He thanks him for giving him food, his first home, and magical lessons.
