The chapter opens with the boss of the thief guild lamenting that the high-level thieves are too powerful for him to manage. He tells his men to return to the mainland and be careful because they are too strong. He warns them not to hold them responsible for the deaths of their brothers. The boss then suggests that they have a non-lethal match with seven other thieves. If they win, he says, they will go right away, but if they lose, he will not bother them anymore. The two men agree to the match, and the elf who lost the first match disappears in an instant.
