About This Chapter
The next morning, the two men discuss the war, and the war's effect on Petraeus and his family. Petraeus's son, Major Darnay, tells the men that his father's decision to support the war was motivated by patriotism, but that it was also motivated by protecting the status and power of the North's blood, business, and political leaders. Darnay's father, however, is an ordinary pastor who seems to be a bit of a fanatic. The two men agree that the best thing they can do now is to get the incarnaters to tell them what they are.
