About This Chapter
As the battle continues, the men prepare for the inevitable. As they prepare for battle, Bulgar reminds them of their training in hell. He reminds them that they were supposed to die in honor, but that the maggots have made nests in them before they have died. Bulgar says that everyone in this room is flawed, but if there is something that they would die to protect, that is the only thing that will kill them. He says that they must vow to each other that they will kill anyone who loses his or her humanity. He then shivers and says that he loves his troop and everyone else in the room. He feels alive and can die as a soldier, even though he is suffering. He tells the men to spread out and kill as many enemy soldiers as they can.
