About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the real-life 18avita lives in a castle in France. She has fought bravely against the French soldiers, and now she's ready to kill them. The captain of the castle tells her that he doesn't have a gun, and that he's hiding in the castle because it's so dark. She tells him that her gun is missing and that she can't see the reflection of moonlight on the walls. She asks the captain if he sympathizes with the French, and the captain says that he does. He says that the bullet pierces the armor of the statue, which is why the statue is so vulnerable to the bullets. He also says that his coat is made of specially-made armor, which means that if he were unlucky, he'd be able to use the bullet to kill the captain. He tells the captain that he was waiting for the chance to fight the captain, and he says that if the captain is unlucky, it'll all be for nothing. He asks if the bullet isn't enough to kill him. He's not the "devil people say I am" , he says. The fact that he is in the form of a statue means that he has meaning, and this is for his mom, and it means that the captain has to fight back, too. He reminds the captain of a time when he tried to teach his son about righteousness, but the boy was afraid of the wrath of the gods, so he ran away. The chapter ends with the captain saying that the people who live in peace right now are people who don't believe in justice, and they're afraid of God's wrath.
