This chapter opens with a soliloquy by the Pandayu, in which he expresses his gratitude to the gods for their help in overcoming the "world with no gods" . He wishes that he could have his own child, that his husband could gain fame and fortune, that all of the concubines could be killed, and that his son's illness could be cured. He also wishes that his brother could be taken down and that the crown should be given to him. The Pandayu says that he has never seen Master Yeli before, but he has heard that he loved the demon king. He says that it is a shame that master yeli is flawed with such an affair, because it makes him a "big disgrace" to the "reputation of gods." He also says that the dead demon king saved the world from misery and that he should be praised for saving the people from misery. Pandayu takes back his offensive words, saying that the people are "fanatics admirers" of Master yeli. He adds that the barrier between heaven and earth is so strong that ordinary people can't reach it. He thinks that they finally found the uncle ghost, but that he will be worried if he knows of his condition. He suggests that they visit him and tell him that he is in the underworld. The next time they try to deliver a message to him, it all goes silent.
